Please read our policy before filling out the Enrollment Application and Agreement. The Application must be completed and the Agreement signed for your child to be put on our list for possible enrollment.
Criteria for Admission:
The Renaissance Learning Center is open to students, ages 3-14, residing in Palm Beach County that have an Individual Educational Plan that indicates the primary eligibility of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Renaissance Learning Center shall not enroll any student who is under a current term of suspension or expulsion.
Enrollment Procedures:
Interested parents/guardians complete an Application for Enrollment forms. Forms are available through the RLC website and/or the school office. You do not have to be a resident of Palm Beach County to apply. However, if selected, placement will only be made upon verification of residency.
The administration will notify the Board of Directors that an opening has become available, intakes are being scheduled, and when a candidate has been selected.
When an opening becomes available, the Administration will review the waiting list file to determine appropriate candidates for the opening. Appropriate candidates will be selected using the following criteria:
IEP (Individual Education Plan) indicating the need for services for autism spectrum disorder
Confirmed primary eligibility of ASD on the IEP
Age/skill of prospective student (new students having never before attended RLC will be from 3-6 years of age unless a peer match is needed)
Student’s potential benefit from RLC’s program
Peer match with RLC’s current students
Siblings of students enrolled in RLC, children of employees of RLC, and children of board members of RLC shall be given preference during the enrollment and selection process provided they meet the eligibility criteria
If the number of appropriate applicants exceeds the capacity of the program, class, grade level, or building, all appropriate applicants shall have an equal chance of being admitted through a random selection process (lottery)
Parents/guardians will be contacted to determine if there remains and interest in placement at RLC. If the family is still interested, current records, including medical and educational evaluations, will be requested. Student evaluation files will be reviewed by the Administrative staff.
If the records must the criteria for the opening, an interview will be scheduled. Parents/guardians must accompany the candidate to the interview. The administrative staff will conduct an intake at that time. Intake decisions are the sole decision of the Principal.
Applicants will be notified by telephone as to their status.
Formal admission to the school is contingent upon a signed agreement by the parents/guardians.
Renaissance Learning Center is subject to compliance with the entry, health examinations, and immunizations policies of The School District of Palm Beach County.
